Mt. Carmel Armed Forces Reserve Center and Field Maintenance Shop

Mt Carmel, Tennessee

Designed for the Tennessee Dept. of the Military, this project consisted of a 54,000 square ft. armed forces reserve center (AFRC ) and a 17,500 square ft. field maintenance shop (FMS) to be utilized by the Tennessee Army National Guard and the Tennessee Army Reserve. This project was designed to LEED Silver standards and was fully commissioned. The AFRC building included an assembly hall, kitchen/dining facilities, training rooms, offices, weapons vault, locker rooms, and storage areas. The FMS building included vehicle maintenance bays, vehicle wash/lubrication bay, storage, and support facilities.

ESG designed the mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and site utilities for this 32 acre site. Specialized systems within the buildings include: geothermal mechanical system, waste oil heating system, water efficient plumbing fixtures, rainwater harvesting, solar photovoltaic, compressed air, waste oil, energy efficient lighting, daylight sensors, occupancy sensors, specialized communications systems, and emergency power generation system. The project was completed in 2010 at a cost of $12.0M.
